A solid franchise investment

This isn’t our first appearance on the Franchise 500. In fact, we’ve been on the list every year for the past six years. College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving is the only junk removal franchise to also offer moving and labor services, giving its franchisees multiple streams of potential income to more quickly grow their businesses and better withstand any unforeseen downturns in the economy. It’s our bundled services that set us apart from competition like 1-800-Got-Junk, Two Men and a Truck and Junk King.

Junk removal franchise and moving franchise industry is strong

Americans spend billions on moving and junk hauling every year. The moving and packaging industries alone generate $10 billion a year, according to the American Moving & Storage Association. While there are no reliable figures for the size of the junk removal industry, we know from experience that there is tremendous demand for the service. The first College Hunks Hauling Junk business in Washington D.C. became a million-dollar business in two years on the strength of junk hauling alone.

The American Moving & Storage Association estimates that there are about 7,000 companies operating at 14,000 locations and employing more than 120,000 people to provide services similar to those offered by College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving.

Fragmented industry is good news

In addition to homeowners, businesses of all types — including offices, property managers, real estate agents and building contractors — frequently need to move or need to get rid of outdated computer equipment, files, furniture and even construction debris.

The good news for our franchisees is that the market is also highly fragmented, which means that a well-branded and professionally run company like College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving has been able to quickly gain market share.
